• KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A 21-year-old Russian soldier went on trial Friday in Kyiv for the killing of an unarmed Ukrainian civilian, marking the first war crime prosecution of a member of the Russian military from 11 weeks of bloodshed in Ukraine.
  The soldier, a captured member of a tank unit is accused of shooting a 62-year-old Ukrainian man in the head through an open car window in the northeastern village of Chupakhivka during the first days of the war.

US President Joe Biden in a call with the leaders of Sweden and Finland on Friday said he supported NATO's open door policy and the two Nordic countries' right to determine their "own future, foreign policy, and security arrangements."
Biden spoke with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson and Finland President Sauli Niinistö, with the three leaders reiterating their support of Ukraine, the White House said in a statement.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) on Tuesday announced it has launched the largest "single field" investigation since its inception 20-years ago into war crimes committed during Russia’s deadly war in Ukraine.
"During this mission, my office will focus on a set of core objectives aimed at accelerating our independent investigations and strengthening synergy of investigative action with national authorities on the ground in Ukraine," ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan said.

• "Loot" metal: Ukraine on Saturday criticised Russia for sending a ship to the captured city of Mariupol to load a shipment of metal bound for Russia. The Ukrainian parliament's commissioner for human rights Liudmyla Denisova said the Russians were "sending 3,000 tons of metal products by the first ship from Mariupol to Rostov-on-Don (in Russia)." She added that "for more convenient removal of the loot, the occupiers have begun to restore railway connections in Mariupol and Volnovakha."

Details: The greatest number of children have been affected in Donetsk (153), Kyiv (116), Kharkiv (108), Chernihiv (68), Luhansk (51), Kherson (49), Mykolaiv (45), Zaporizhzhia (28), Sumy (17), and Zhytomyr (15) oblasts, and in the city of Kyiv (16).
On 26 May, a 12-year-old boy was killed when a Russian shell exploded in a school in Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast.
