Another traitor in Kyiv region hands over fighters from the Ukrainian anti-terrorist operation and suggests positions to the Russians

Ukrainian law enforcement officers exposed a resident of the village of Lubyanka, Kyiv Oblast, who cooperated with the Russian occupying forces during the occupation of the Bucha district by Russian troops.
According to the investigation, in March 2022, a resident of the village of Lubyanka, in the Bucha district [of Kyiv Oblast], provided the Russian occupiers with information about the whereabouts of Ukrainian servicemen who participated in the anti-terrorist operation [now renamed Joint Forces Operation -ed.] underway in the east of Ukraine since 2014 and other people who have used firearms and might resist the Russian occupying forces.

Unconfirmed reports have suggested that an explosion at a seaport in Russian-controlled Berdyansk occurred this afternoon (Thursday, June 2), although the local authority has not confirmed them.

MORE than 300 guests recently enjoyed the captivating artistry of world-renowned violinist Anastasiya Petryshak at the beautiful Sala María Cristina in Malaga
Doors opened at 6pm, as guests gathered in the coolshade of the beautifully adorned historic Sala María Cristina, a suitably elegant venue for a charity concert in aid oforphans and handicapped children from the Kyiv region of Ukraine.
Organised by the TulSun Foundation, which cares for 350 such children, the concert forms the heart of a fundraising campaigning aiming to help children in the war-torn country.
Anastasiya Petryshak is not only a world-renowned young violinist of incredible talent and beauty, she is also Ukrainian, and kindly agreed to perform for in support of a cause so close to her heart.
Accompanied by Italian virtuoso pianist, Lorenzo Meo, she performed mesmerising works by John Corigliano, Maurice Ravel – who debuted one of his masterpieces at this very venue – and her compatriot Myroslav Skoryk.
TulSun Foundation is a charity organisation that has been supporting orphans and handicapped children from the Kyiv region of Ukraine for more than five years now – providing medical, educational and humanitarian care for 350 youngsters in specialised centres near the country’s capital.
Over €14,300 was raised on the night and through donations so far, but much more remains to be done now and when the children return home after the war.

Дорогие читатели «Медузы» из Украины!
С первого дня российского вторжения в Украину «Медуза» выступает против этой чудовищной войны. Необходимо как можно скорее остановить гибель людей. Российские войска должны уйти с территории Украины.
Владимир Путин готовился к войне не один год, а в последние месяцы делал это на глазах у изумленного мира — но мы, как и очень многие, не верили, что он решится на это преступление. Ведь война России с Украиной — катастрофа не только для Украины, но и для России. Мы заблуждались.
Бессмысленно гадать, что происходит в голове у Путина. Вероятно, он ненавидит украинцев, Запад считает слабым и никчемным, а россиян — людьми, которые не могут обойтись без вождя. Как бы то ни было, именно Путин принял решение, в результате которого российская армия пересекла границу с Украиной и начала убивать вас — наших друзей, наших соседей, наших близких.
Мариуполь и Харьков. Ирпень и Николаев. Крым и Донбасс. Мы тоже никогда не простим этого Владимиру Путину.
Многие в России сегодня задаются вопросом: несем ли мы все ответственность за то, что началось 24 февраля 2022 года? Трудно ответить за всю страну. Мы можем сказать, как понимаем это сами — в нашей редакции. Для нас ответственность — это не только горечь и стыд. И не только сожаления о прошлом. Для нас ответственность — это необходимость что-то делать прямо сейчас, чтобы изменить ситуацию. Если мы не смогли предотвратить случившееся, то должны попытаться исправить.
Когда-то «Медуза» появилась, потому что ее основатели были категорически не согласны с тем, что происходит в России. В том числе с политикой Кремля в отношении Крыма и Донбасса. Годами российские власти пытались уничтожить «Медузу» и другие независимые СМИ. Нашу редакцию объявили «иностранным агентом», а потом и вовсе заблокировали наш сайт. Несмотря на это, нас по-прежнему читают миллионы. Наша главная задача сегодня — такая же, как и прежде: дать голос людям, которые находятся в самом тяжелом положении; людям, чьи жизни навсегда перечеркнула война; людям, которых обрекли на трудности, бедствия и страдания. Поэтому нам так важно, чтобы именно украинцы были главными героями материалов «Медузы» о войне, чтобы именно они рассказывали нашим читателям о том, что происходит в их стране.
Многие жители России по-прежнему отрицают очевидное. Предпочитают верить в то, что видят по телевизору — потому что правда чудовищна. Но мы все, граждане России, обязаны очнуться. Мы, граждане России, обязаны ужаснуться — тем, что было содеяно от нашего имени. Только так мы сможем — все вместе — остановить войну.

Biden says US will send $800 million in more security aid to Ukraine

President Biden said Thursday that the U.S. plans to send an additional $800 million in security assistance to Ukraine including advanced air defense systems and other “offensive” weapons.
Biden disclosed the plans during a news conference following a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in Madrid, where he declared the alliance united in response to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
This summit was about strengthening our alliance, meeting the challenges of our world as it is today and the threats we’re going to face in the future,” Biden said in opening remarks at the press conference.
Biden said the new assistance package would also include more counter-battery radars, artillery and ammunition, including ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) that the U.S. has recently supplied to the Ukrainians. Biden also predicted that other countries would send HIMARS to Ukraine.
White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said earlier this week that the U.S. would be sending medium- and long-range air defense systems to Ukraine, though he declined to specify the particular system.
Congress has authorized roughly $40 billion in security, economic and humanitarian assistance for Ukraine that the administration can draw from. Biden indicated that a formal announcement of the new tranche of $800 million in assistance will be made in the coming days.
Biden also underscored the U.S. plans to enhance its forces in Europe and commitments by other NATO members, like Germany, to bolster defense spending to meet the alliance’s target of 2 percent of gross domestic product.
Biden’s overseas trip, his fourth to Europe as president, also included an earlier stop at a Group of Seven (G-7) summit in Germany during which the G7 leaders pledged to support Ukraine for the long haul.

Snake Island: Why Russia couldn't hold on to strategic Black Sea outcrop

This tiny, rocky outcrop in the north-west of the Black Sea was seized by Russia on the first day of its invasion of Ukraine, and it has played an outsized role in the war ever since.
After more than four months of repeated Ukrainian bombardment, Russian forces have abandoned Snake or Zmiinyi Island, as it is known in Ukraine.
Russia says it has withdrawn its garrison as a "gesture of goodwill" to prove it was not obstructing grain exports, but Ukraine dismissed that claim, as Moscow continued to shell its grain stores.
In April, Russia's anti-aircraft capabilities in the north-western Black Sea were significantly weakened with the sinking of the Moskva, the flagship of its Black Sea Fleet.
That would also give greater security to Ukraine's biggest Black Sea port of Odesa, and the whole north-western sector of the Black Sea.
That explains why the Kremlin was so desperate to bring in anti-aircraft systems and radio-electronic warfare to Snake Island. But it became a logistical nightmare for Russia to defend because it was so far from its main naval bases in the Black Sea.
For all its attacks, Ukraine has very limited naval capacity, so has been unable to land its own force on the island.
Ukrainian military analyst Oleh Zhdanov argues that stationing troops on Snake Island makes no sense for either side as they would become an easy target. Instead, Mr Zhdanov advocates creating "fire control" - maintaining the capability to strike any target approaching the island.
