Since the beginning of the day, December 29, pro-Kremlin occupants opened fire on positions of Ukrainian servicemen once. Press office of Ukraine's Defense Ministry reported that on Wednesday noon.
"One ceasefire breach was observed as of 11 a.m.", reads the message. That attack took place in the vicinities of Novoluhanske; the illegal armed formations opened fire from automatic grenade launchers.
None of Ukrainian servicemen were wounded or killed in action.

The information security strategy of Ukraine, which was signed the day before by President Volodymyr Zelensky, is aimed at protecting the course of Ukraine to NATO and the European Union as the President’s Office reported.
"The strategic course of Ukraine to gain full membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine. The National Security Strategy of Ukraine defines European and Euro-Atlantic integration as one of the priorities of national interests and national security," the document says.
Related: Ukraine hopes to join NATO summit in Madrid next year, - Zelensky

The Strategy notes that the overwhelming majority of citizens support the implementation of the European and Euro-Atlantic course of Ukraine, however, at the same time, there are attempts to manipulate the consciousness of Ukrainian citizens by spreading myths and disinformation (destructive) stereotypes regarding the EU and NATO. This, according to the document, leads to a break in the implementation of reforms and negatively affects the overall socio-political situation in the state.
We remind you that on October 15, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) approved the country's Information Security Strategy.

Representative Adam Schiff, chair of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee, said Sunday that a Russian invasion of Ukraine is likely, and that preventing one would require "enormous sanctions" and an "understanding" by Moscow that such a move would draw NATO closer to Russia.
Schiff's comments came during an interview on CBS News' Face the Nation on Sunday. Host Margaret Brennan asked Schiff what he believes would stop Russian President Vladimir Putin "from his aggression."
"Do you need to cut that country off from the global financial system to sanction him personally?" Brennan asked.
Well, I think that it would require enormous sanctions on Russia to deter what appears to be a very likely Russian invasion of Ukraine again. And, I think our allies need to be solidly on board with it. Russia needs to understand we are united in this," said Schiff, a Democrat from California.

The European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, will visit Ukraine this week in a sign of the bloc’s support for Kyiv as it faces a Russian military buildup near its border.
The European Commission said on January 3 that Borrell will travel to Ukraine from January 4 to January 6, visiting the “contact line” where Russia-backed separatists battle Ukrainian government forces in eastern Ukraine before meeting with officials in Kyiv.
The West is concerned that a Russian buildup of around 100,000 troops near Ukraine’s borders could be preparation for a potential invasion.
U.S. and Russian officials are set to hold talks in Geneva on January 9-10 on the crisis after Moscow demanded sweeping security guarantees from the United States and NATO.
Those bilateral talks will be followed days later by meetings between Russia and NATO and separate discussions under the framework of the Organization For Security and Cooperation In Europe (OSCE).

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States and Germany said Wednesday that Russia’s military buildup near Ukraine’s border poses an “immediate and urgent challenge” to European security and that any intervention will draw severe consequences.
But the country’s top diplomats left open what those consequences would be and how differences on arming Ukraine and a controversial Russian gas pipeline will be resolved.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock sought to present a unified front on Russia after a meeting in Washington.
“Both Germany and the United States see Russia’s actions toward Ukraine as an immediate and urgent challenge to peace and stability in Europe,” Blinken said.
“We condemn Russia’s military buildup on Ukraine’s borders, as well as Russia’s increasingly harsh rhetoric as it continues to push the false narrative that Ukraine seeks to provoke (Russia),” he said. “That’s a little bit like the fox saying it had no choice but to attack the henhouse because somehow the hens presented a threat.”
Baerbock agreed. “We jointly reiterated that Russian actions and activities come with a clear price tag, and a renewed violation of Ukrainian sovereignty by Russia would have severe consequences,” she said.
The Blinken-Baerbock meeting followed a telephone call last week between President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin, a conversation Sunday between Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and a group discussion Tuesday among Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan and his counterparts from the five Nordic nations.
It also preceded a flurry of meetings involving NATO foreign ministers, senior U.S. and Russian officials, the NATO-Russia Council and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe set for next week.
